We

We met on eHarmony. What?! Yup, those commercials actually worked!! Avery was getting out of a long relationship, and I was intrigued by all the couples walking hand-in-hand on the commercials. We both signed on the first week in February, and began communicating immediately.

He was living in Dallas at the time and I was in Houston. The first time we met, he drove to The Woodlands after work on Friday. I had him meet me at my apartment...what was I thinking?!?! Thankfully he turned out to be normal and not some crazy! He was in town for the weekend-that is one heck of a first date. Talk about moving fast!! He met my parents on the first date...little did he know he was the only guy to have ever done this.

Avery ran a half marathon with me early on to impress me :)
We saw each other every weekend from February until July. God truly protected our relationship-I had a friend who lived about 3 minutes from Avery in Dallas and Avery had a friend who lived about 8 minutes from me in The Woodlands. We were able to crash on friend's couches for our dating period.

I left for 2 weeks in Africa at the beginning of July. I had already gotten a job at a school in the Dallas area, so I was liking him just a bit! Quite frankly, I didn't get why he hadn't proposed yet. Did I mention we had a wedding date, venue, and dress 2 months before he proposed...

The night he proposed
I got back from Africa on a Wednesday, and had plans to see Avery on Friday after he got off work. I made my way through the horribleness of customs, and dragged my exhausted feet as I went to find my parents. I broke into a full sprint when I saw my man standing there with roses. Now before you think "oh, a cheesy airport proposal", don't worry, that didn't happen! Before I got into his car my mom hugged me and begin to cry-well, that's strange! The entire car ride back to the apartment Avery was just rambling and acting weird. I kept thinking 'I don't know what happened to him while I was gone, but I don't like it one bit'.

When we got back, the apartment was decorated in roses and candles. Now if you think this would be a major tip off of what was to come, you clearly have no idea how naive I am! Avery left to pick up dinner while I got cleaned up. He was dressed up, but it still took everything in my not to put on sweatpants. He came back with Carrabas-the same exact meal we had on our first date. We ate, Avery was still being strange and talkative, and I was utterly exhausted (you don't sleep much when you are sleeping in the sticks of Africa!). I got up to clear the table and when I got back there was a huge present on my plate. I read the sweetest card...that ended with "I have a question". Silly me, I still had NO idea what was going on. Avery pulled a box from the present, and got down on one knee. I said yes!!!!

We got married on January 14th, and are so thankful for the oneness we have! I am blessed to be Mrs. Avery Davis :)
